Hairol Jamaludin is from Kg. Tundun Bohangin; a village located in Kuala Sungai Kinabatangan. As a full-time fisherman for over 7 years, Hairol faced many challenges. One of the most difficult to forget was when he almost died after falling into the sea due to being hit by the waves. Hairol also sees various fishing issues that demand attention but are beyond his means. Things like this sometimes cause him despair. However, since getting involved with programs organized by Forever Sabah, Hairol began to see opportunities to address these issues. Therefore, the offer to become a Community Organizer under the Ramsar Community Initiative Program is accepted with an open heart and mind. He hopes that the fishing community, especially in his village, can enjoy sustainable seafood in the future.
